How is this achieved?

Unlike most capos that have a flat metal bar and a thin rubber pad, the Rolling / Glider Capo has a roller on the front and back side of the capo. It's almost like playing a Barre chord with your index finger and this allows it to accommodate a wide range of Fingerboard shapes and Radius’.
